I have been working on a senior design project with four total students (including myself)
We are tasked with building a mobile application for a company called "ShoreLight" (you can easily find them with a google search) and currently have a partnership with my university to house international students that do not live directly on campus. Currently, the administration that are tasked with helping these students have run into some complications regarding communication, and sought out seniors in computer science for aid.
I was assigned to this project as a last resort, as my other top choices were no longer available.
We are tasked with building a mobile application to make the workflow of the administrators more efficient, mainly, for communication of pertinent information to and from the international students.
Some of the concerns administration wants to address follows:
- Students safety in the event of an emergency
- Updating the residents on current maintenance issues (e.g. "water in building A will be temporarily off from X time to Y time")
- Update students of new available information that is offered at the university, such as events, or international student aid etc...
This project is for a two part semester where the first part was mainly documentation, meeting with the administration and understanding their goals.
We are now in the second part and a large portion of the project has been completed by some of the other students that have had prior experience working on projects such as this.
I however have had 0 work experience in any of these technologies and given my current course workload of 17 credit hours with school and working part time to pay for school, I am struggling to stay on top of everything to say the least.
I am in search for a mentor/tutor that would help me produce some meaningful work to help my peers with the project. I am hard working and willing to put in the work and effort. Trying to absorb all the information and learn as much as I can has left me drained with little output.
I appreciate any and all who have taken the time to read this post and gotten this far to read this and I am more than willing to meet weekly and share any and all information that I can to bring said mentor/tutor up to date with my current situation.
Thank you!
