Conversion between Celsius and fahrenheit

I know the formula for converting Celsius to Fahrenheit. Why do all the experts on climate warming warming and the media say that one degrees Celsius is equal to 1.8°F could it be because there’s 100° between boiling and freezing on the Celsius scale and 180° between boiling and freezing on the Fahrenheit scale?

The ratio comes from the special ΔT, T_BP - T_FP which has the ratio of Fahrenheit to Celsius of (212-32)/(100-0) = 9/5
