For the reaction: 2Zn(g) + O2(g) = 2ZnO(s) If at time 0.0 seconds the weight of the whole system was 36.54g and after 60.0 seconds it was 37.23 g, what is the rate of production of ZnO in g/min?

The weight of the system CANNOT change if we are not losing or gaining mass from the system. However, if the Zn was solid and you burned it in air, then the weight would change as it turned to ZnO. In which case the rate of ZnO production would be

(m(60) - m(0))/60 s * (M_ZnO/(M_ZnO - M_Zn) where M_i are molar masses.
