Distinguishing between organic compounds

Another question that is confusing :


  1. Clearly outline how could distinguish between an alkene , a primary and a tertiary alcohol. Provide the products of reactions which can be used


They all have similar properties and Im not sure what they mean by "Provide the products of reactions which can be used"


A detailed explanation would be very appreciated ! :D

What would be an example of products of a reaction in regard to alkene , a primary and a tertiary alcohol. Im sorry this is still confusing

That’s okay! Normally, reactions aren’t referred to as product reactions. But I would assume that it means that the reactions give you certain products, which you may have to list. These compounds can undergo substitution reactions, elimination reactions, and many others. What they give you as the end result, are what are called their products. I really hope this helps!
