Hi George!
Moles are very similar to a dozen. 1 dozen is always 12 of something.
1 dozen eggs = 12 eggs
1 dozen books = 12 books
1 dozen cars = 12 cars
1 mol of anything is always 6.022*1023 (Avogadro's number). For example:
1 mol eggs = 6.022*1023 eggs
1 mol books = 6.022*1023 books
1 mol cars = 6.022*1023 cars
Obviously, it's not helpful to talk about moles in chemistry in relation to eggs, books, and cars.
Moles are more helpful for expressing very large amounts of things that are very small. For example, if I want to express how many carbon atoms are in a computer, that would be a massive amount! So there must be some way to write that number without writing a huge exponent in scientific notation.
**Any time that you see atoms, molecules, or formula units, you need to remember the conversion 1 mol = 6.022*1023.**
So the simple answer to your question is 6.022*1023 molecules.
I hope this helps!
