If you are talking about y = 5(x−5)2 − 5, first set it equal to zero:
0 = 5(x−5)2 − 5 then add 5 to both sides:
5 = 5(x−5)2 and then divide by 5:
1 = (x−5)2 now take the square root of both sides:
±√1 = √(x−5)2
±1 = x - 5
Solution 1: 1 = x - 5 or x = 6
Solution 2: -1 = x - 5 or x = 4
