How do i find slope with two given points?

I need a bacikc run down of how to find slope with two given points. I have a test tmmr and dont know how to do it, please help and thank you. you can create some points.

given 2 points such as (1,2) and (2,4) the slope = "rise over run" or the difference in y coordinates divided by the corresponding difference in x coordinates

slope = (4-2)/(2-1) = 2/1 = 2

or two other points (2,4) and (6,8)

slope = (8-4)/(6-2) = 4/4 = 1
