Perimeter = W + L + W + L = 2*W + 2*L

 

For the arena field, 

 

2*(a-38) + 2*a = 188

2*a - 76 + 2*a = 188

4*a = 264

a = 66

 

So the length of an arena field is 66 yards and the width is 66 - 38 = 28 yards

 

For the NFL field, 

 

2*(n+3) + 2*(2n + 20) = 346

2*n + 6 + 4*n + 40 = 346

6*n + 46 = 346

6*n = 300

n = 50 

 

So the width of an NFL field is 53 yards and the length is 120 yards
