Hello Kyra,
I'm assuming the equation is: (2 3/4)*x = 33/2
First, turn the mixed number into an improper fraction: 2 3/4 = [(2*4)+3] /4 = [8+3]/4 = 11/4
The equation is now: (11/4)*x = 33/2
You can now multiply both sides by 4 to get rid of the fractions: 4*(11/4)*x = 4*33/2
(44/4)*x = 132/2 ----> 11*x = 66
See how we got rid of fractions and now it's an easier equation to deal with.
Divide both sides by 11: x = 66/11 = 6
Answer: x = 6
Check: If you have a calculator: do (11/4)*6 and compare it to 33/2. They should be the same :)
Cheers.

Wait but I'm still confused why do you multiply 4 on both sides?01/20/22
