Nuclear fusion is the source of heat and light from the sun. The sun's center is so hot and pressurized that hydrogen atoms are fused to make helium atoms. This fusion creates the heat and photons (light) that are emitted from the sun.

When electrons move from higher energy levels to lower energy levels, they loose energy which can be light or sound or any kind of energy, and you gave an example of tube lights. So can we say that light is produced the same way even in the Sun?
