Faith begins with faith in Jesus as the Son of God, second person of the Trinity, Divine Logos of all creation. Theology is defined by St. Thomas Aquinas as "faith seeking understanding". Salvation is attained by God's judgment after our death. The understanding of what faith entails can be found in the Catechism, particularly the Catechism of the Council of Trent (1566). While we are the faithful children of God on earth, we seek to maintain ourselves in a state of grace by obedience to those official teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. in the Catechism. Sanctity may also be attained by a continuous seeking of God through devotion to both discursive and contemplative prayer and spiritual and corporal works of mercy. One must confront the fact that those who intend to serve God are met with confrontation in the mystery of iniquity. All men are drawn away by the "Spirit of the World" that must be resisted though a lifetime. Then again, all believers are obliged in life to seek what is God's will for their chosen vocation of work in the world. This requires a personal knowledge and the hard work of personal cultivation of virtue. The great irony of all believers is that as they "deny themselves and take up their cross" (Matthew 16:24) they will discover the richness, peace and joy of life therein! This is a dynamic in which persons find themselves transported in their heart into a preparation to meet God at the time of their departure from this world.
For many a fulfilling life entails the attendance of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass each holy day of obligation on Sunday, as well as experiencing the touch of divine Real Presence of Jesus in all 7 sacraments. It is also the careful discovery of finding a man or woman with whom to share the journey in the Sacrament of Matrimony through a lifetime and bearing and raising children in love as a family into the fulness of life in faith. For many women this is fulfilled through holy motherhood. Many men discover life fulfillment in a job that brings wealth and support of his family. For all Catholics this means a life of learning and recognition of the importance of the assistance of Mary Mother of God and Joseph in our daily lives through the Rosary and prayer, as well as emulating the lives of all the saints. All in all, as faith in Jesus is sought and fulfilled, God's love and truth flow more dynamically into the soul of the believer. Great happiness of the heart is the certain result.
A beautiful life requires a beautiful response that is deeply personal. That is what tutoring can do to bring alive the faith potential of the applicant student.
