Why do you think congress would be against gathering at a national convention to purpose amendments?

There is one great problem with calling a national convention. No one can be certain what might happen! Amendments may be offered that could be detrimental to the nation and/or the Constitution. One group of states could dominate the Convention. That is why since the founding of the nation there has never been a convention to amend the Constitution.
