The # of instructions N performed per sec by a computer varies direct on the speed S of the computer inter processor a processor with a speed of 20MHZ can perform 1,800,000 insuctions per second.

a) Find an Equation  of variation.

b) How many instructions per second will the same processors perform if it is running at a speed of 200 mhz

Direct variation means that N = k*S for some k, so 

 

1,800,000 = k * 20

k = 90,000

 

N = 90000*S

 

If S = 200 then 

 

N = 90000*200 = 18,000,000
