Alejandro is buying chicken for a barbecue. He buys 4 pounds of chicken for $5.00. How much does he pay per pound of chicken?

5/4 = 1 1/4 = 1.25 = $1.25 per pound of chicken

(which is why some believe farmers or companies artificially increase chicken weight with artificial drugs--warning not to eat a chicken part that looks a little too big for a normal chicken)
