And in a blatant example of earthly ego from beyond the grave, it is also the number one song most played at grave sites during burial funeral services, according to the U.S. Funeral Directors Association. Everyone, it seems, wants those they leave behind to know they did it "their way." :-)
Did you know the song, "My Way," made famous by Frank Sinatra, was actually originally composed and sung in French?
Yes! The original song was recorded as "Comms D'habitude" (As Usual) and was made famous by several male and female chanteurs over the years. Those include Mirelle Mathieu and Claude François. Although it was not loved by anyone. It was actually known as the tune no one wanted to record! But when rewritten by Frank Sinatra and Paul Anka and sung in English by Sinatra, it became a world-wide phenomena and one of Sinatra's signature songs. And the tune is firmly in the top 10 of best-known, most-loved French songs. It is covered from time to time by younger singers but they never quite capture the magic which was back in the late 60s, early 70s. Maybe it's time for a new singer to try again!
