The reactants are whatever you start with before a reaction has taken place. If you have a chemical equation, the reactants are any substances on the left side of the arrow.
The products are any new substance that were produced during the reaction. In a chemical equation, they go on the right side of the arrow.
example: 2 H2 + O2 -> 2 H2O
In this reaction, we start with hydrogen and oxygen (reactants) and produce water (product)
