(a) Remember that the density is mass divided by volume, or d = m / V (d is density, m is mass, V is volume). Rearranging this to solve for volume, we get
V = m / d.
In this problem, our mass is m = 463 g of oil with a density of d = 0.92 g / mL. Plugging these values into the equation for Volume, we get
V = 463 g / (0.92 g / mL) = 503 mL.
(b) The conversion from milliliters to liters is 1000 mL = 1 L. Using this conversion for the answer in part (a), we have
V = 503 mL * 1 L / (1000 mL) = 0.503 L
