When 0.374 g of sodium metal is added to an excess of hydrochloric acid, 3890 J of heat are produced. What is the enthalpy of the reaction as written?

2Na(s)+2HCl(aq) ----- 2NaCl(aq)+H2(g)

the units are just kJ would the answer be the same?

Hi, Sarah, I just now saw your question. No, the numbers would be different. But if there is no unit that relates the enthalpy to the size of the reaction, the answer would simply be the -3.89 kJ that the problem says was given off. I am surprised it wouldn't ask for a more conventional expression for enthalpy.
