ClO3^-(aq) + 5Cl^-(aq) + 6H^+ ---> 3Cl2(g) + 3H2O(l)
In the given reaction oxidation number of Cl in ClO3^- is +5 while oxidation number of Cl in Cl^- is -1.
Oxidation number of Cl in Cl2 is 0.
Incase of oxidation oxidation number increases while in reduction oxidation number decreases.
In case of ClO3^- oxidation number of Cl decreases from +5 to 0 and in Cl^- it increases from - 1 to 0.
Thus,
ClO3- is reduced and Cl^- is oxidized.
Thus, option (A) Cl^-(aq) and ClO3^-(aq) is the correct answer.
