This is just like your other problem. It involves finding an amount of a product when given an amount of a reactant = molar ratios and stoichiometry.
- Balance the reaction: 2H2O (l) > 2H2 (g) + O2 (g)
- information given: 32.4 g H2O and you need to find grams of H2
- there is only 1 ‘reactant’ so no need to find limiting reactant
- Now set up (check so that units cancel out until you have desired units)
32.4 g H2O (1 mol H2O/18.015 g H2O) (2 mol H2/2 mol H2O) (2.016 g H2/1 mol H2) = 3.6257… g
Round for sig figs = 3.63 g H2
