if they're directly related, y=kx, 36=k(12), k=3

y=3x

when x = 10,

y=3(10) = 30, odds are that's the answer you want

But if x and y are inversely related, then y=x/k and 36=12/k

then k= 12/36 = 1/3

when x=10

y=(1/3)10= 10/3
