The 655 kg doesn't have to be converted to grams, as the units cancel to give kg of product after normal stoichiometry. The balanced reaction is 2 NaCl + H2 --> 2 HCl + 2 Na, from which
655 kg NaCl * (1 mol NaCl /58.44g NaCl) * (2 mol HCl /2 mol NaCl) * (36.46g HCl /1 mol HCl) = 408.6 kg HCl by theory. Actual mass = (408.6 kg theory) * (0.845 actual/theory) = 345 kg HCl.
