Nitrogen gas is a diatomic gas, meaning that as a gas it is composed of 2 nitrogens. (Other diatomic gasses include oxygen gas, fluorine gas, and chlorine gas.
The molar mass of a diatomic gas is therefore twice of the original element.
- molar mass of N2(g) = 2 x 14.0067 g = 28.0134 g.
- to find moles from grams, the equation is: moles = grams/molar mass
- 92.2 g/ 28.0134 g = 3.29 moles N2(g)
