Aluminum (Al) has a +3 charge and Iodine (I) has a - 1 charge, therefore aluminum iodide is AlI3. We also need to remember that Iodine is always diatomic I2. Skeleton equation: Al + I2 -> AlI3 Balanced equation: 2Al + 3I2 -> 2AlI3
