subtract: 5 -(-3) = 5+3. Just the difference in the x coordinates.
You can use the distance formula, but it's unnecessary when the y coordinates are the same. Just subtract one x coordinate from the other, and take the absolute value if it's negative
d^2 = (5+3)^2 + (2-2)^2 = 64
d = +sqr64 = 8
