Effective Physics and Math tutor either online and/or in-person.
Both objects move at constant velocity motion.
For constant velocity motion distance is the product of velocity and time: d=V*t
For train: d= 12 h * Vtrian
For car: d= V car * t car
It is given that Vcar= 1.5Vtrian , then d= 1.5Vtrian*t car
Since the distance travelled by car or train is the same then we can say:
12 h * Vtrian= 1.5Vtrian*t car
We can divide both sides over Vtrian and solve equation for t car :
t car = 12h/1.5 =8hours.
It will take 8 hours to cover the same distance.
