Does Aristotle have a way to defend his claims of spontaneity and chance against the determinism argument in On Int. 9?

I don't have a full answer off the top of my head, but if you haven't already, I'd suggest looking at chapters 4-9 of Book II of Aristotle's Physics. He covers luck, chance, determinism, necessity, and the relations between in those chapters. Hope that helps!
