Hi Ryan - This is a stoichiometry problem, and we're given our starting amount, so the next step is to work it through the reaction to get our answer.
First, I convert my mass value of KOH to moles:
(33.2 g KOH/1) x (1 mol KOH/56.0156g KOH in 1 mol) = 0.593 mol KOH
Then, using the stoichiometric coefficients, I convert the moles of KOH into moles of H2O:
(0.593 mol KOH/1) x (3 mol H2O/3 mol KOH) = 0.593 mol x 1/1 ratio = 0.593 mol H2O
and finally, I convert this mole value into grams of H2O, to achieve my answer:
0.593 mol x 18.01528 (molar mass of H2O) = 10.678 g H2O produced from 33.2 g KOH.
