Hello, Camilla,
Molar is defined as moles/liter. We find the number of moles of NaCl in 60 grams and then divide by the number of liters of solution.
The molar mass of NaCl is 58.4 g/mole. So we have 50g/(58.4 g/mole) or 0.856 moles of NaCl. We add it to 500ml of solution, which is 0.50 liters. The molarity is thus:
(0.856 moles NaCl/0.50 liters) or 1.71M
