The answer is actually 2500mL, I suspect you knew that and it was just a typo on your part.
To get the answer recall that Molarity is moles solute per Liter solution. (M=mol/L)
If you know two qualities (moles, Liters, or Molarity) you can solve for the unknown by using the appropriate relation below:
- M = moles / L
- L = moles / M
- moles = M * L
Since you know M = 0.2 and moles = 0.5 and you want mL simple plug these values into the relation for L and convert:
- L = moles / M = 0.5 / 0.2 = 2.5L
- 2.5L = 2500mL
