At exactly 3:42, the tank was full and he noticed that he had pumped 10 gallons. What is the average rate of flow of the gasoline into the gas tank? Round to the nearest tenth of a gallon per minute.

He starts pumping at 3:37pm and stops at 3:42, which means he pumps gas for 5 minutes. He notices that he pumps 10 gallons. So you'll take 10 gallons and divide by 5 minutes.

10 gallons/ 5 minutes = 2 gallons per minute.
