Hello, Hannah,
We need to start with a balanced equation. This was a little more difficult than some, but I came up with this:
2 Al2S3 + 3 F2 = 2 AlF3 + 6 S
Please check my work before going further.
The equation tells us that we need 3 moles of F2 for every 2 moles of Al2S3. That's a ratio of (3/2), or 1.5.
If we assume we have plenty of F2 and start with 0.2945 moles of Al2S3, we will consume 1.5 times that of F2, or 0.4418 moles of F2.
