Bachelor with honors in Chemistry from UC Berkeley and onward to Ph.D.
Step 1: Find the molarity
We have 22 moles of HNO3 in 5000L Water. Hence, 22 mol/ 5000L = 0.0044 M
Step 2: Dissociation of H+ ions
Since HNO3 is a strong acid, it completely dissociates. hence, we have 0.0044 M of H+ ions from 0.0044M solution
Step 3: pH
pH = -log[H+] = -log[0.0044] = 2.36.
