If 8 boys went to the washroom, there would be 2/3 as many boys as girls in the room.

if 8 girls went to the washroom , there would be 2 times as many boys as girls.

How many boys and how many girls are there in the class?

18 girls and 20 boys in the class

8 boys leave and there's 18 girls and 12 boys. 12 is 2/3 of 18

8 girls leave and there are 10 girls and 20 boys, 20 is twice 10

B-8= (2/3)G

B = (2/3)G +8

B=2(G-8) = 2G-16

(2/3)G + 8 = 2G-16

2G-(2/3)G = 24

(4/3)G = 24

G = (3/4)24 =18 girls

B=2(18-8) = 20 boys
