The bond between H and Br will be polar covalent. This is because hydrogen and bromine are both nonmetals, so it cannot be an ionic bond. It is polar covalent, because the electronegativity value of hydrogen is 2.1, while bromine’s electronegativity value is 2.96. The difference between the two values is 0.86, while to be considered nonpolar, the difference must be under 0.4. Therefore, the bond will be polar covalent.
