One month Trey rented 2 movies and 5 video games for a total of $30. The next month he rented 8 movies and 3 video games for a total of $35. 

Find the rental cost for each movie and each video game.

Then 2x + 5y = 30 and 8x + 3y = 35

Multiply the first equation by -4 and add to the second to get -17y = -85.

So, y = 5 and x = 2.5.

A movie costs $2.50 to rent and a video game rental fee is $5.00.
