First, we need to find the moles of NaOH we have in the solution. We are given that we have 500 mL (0.500L) of 1.50M solution. Therefore, to go from molarity to moles, we simply multiply the volume by the molarity. Remember to always convert to L (liters) if not given the solution quantity in L, as molarity is defined as moles per liter of solution.
0.500L x 1.50M= 0.750mol NaOH
To find the grams of NaOh required, we simply multiply our moles of NaOH by the molar mass of NaOH:
0.750mol NaOH x 40.00gNaOH/molNaOH= 30.0g NaOH
