The fall of humanity was a very significant factor of Biblical History. Before the fall, man was perfect and in perfect harmony with God. But when Adam and Eve ate of the forbidden fruit, sin entered the world. Sin is anything that we think, say, or do, that breaks God’s law. The end result of sin is always death. Sin brings three types of death. Physical, spiritual, and eternal. The most obvious form is physical death. When Adam and Eve sinned, their bodies began to wear out and they began to die physically. The second form of death that sin brings is spiritual. Spiritual death means that man in his spirit is disconnected from God. That disconnection means that we cannot have a relationship with God. Directly related to spiritual death is eternal death. Eternal death is the end result of spiritual death. If we do not find the way out of spiritual death into spiritual life, then when we die physically, then we will spend forever in Hell. This death is a very grim outlook. But the good news is that when man sinned, God provided a way for us to escape our spiritual and eternal death. That way was in his Son. No sooner had Adam and Eve sinned, than God gave a promise in Genesis 3:15. It is called the protoevangelium. That is a big word just to say that it is the first mention of a Jesus in the Bible. This verse promised that one day, a Messiah would come. And that Messiah would save his people from their sins. The entire Old Testament is the story of Israel waiting for the Messiah, the Christ, to come. And come He did. In a manger, in Bethlehem, 2000 years ago Jesus Christ was born. He didn’t come as a conquering King. He came as a suffering Saviour. To deliver us from Spiritual darkness into His Light. The Bible says in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish but have ever lasting life.” That is the Gospel, Or the good news. God loved us so much, that He was willing to give us the best He had—His Only Son—so that we can spend forever with Him in Heaven. If you would like to talk about this subject more, I would be glad to speak with you about it more.

This title has been fixed to the original choice of the first couple to break a command in Eden, their original garden home. It had some immediate impacts, long term impacts and it reveals an important essential distinction about Christian truth. On the first item, it introduced a concept about the soul or spirit of humans--that they are dead in a state of sin or revolt against God. This is seen in various effects, but may seem apparent. For ex., we have some common sense not to steal, but it keeps happening, and the urge creates widespread envy, etc. On the 2nd (long term), it meant that the couple and their offspring would expire physically. Along with this is an environment which changed, became hostile, etc. There was work before and after this severance, but now work is often draining, fatiguing and full of 'Murphy's law.' Much of life would be sorrowful. The couple would have tension between them, and there would be other enmities. The couple was unaware of living naked before, and were now ashamed and covered themselves. Apparently new sexual thoughts now reminded them of what they had done and of failure. A very important Judeo-Christian doctrine was expressed at the same time, though not in so many words. It is the distinction that evil arrived apart from God. There is no direct connection. A French philosopher once said 'If there is a god, he is the Devil' but the writer got it wrong. The couple was warned about the death that would come from their refusal, and Satan's first words are to subvert that warning. The Christian gospel is expressed soon after the "Fall" and shows promise of a reversal of its effects through a redeeming Person who suffers in the process. Later additional docrine on this shows that this redemption is partly in this life, and ultimately after death.11/09/20
