1) Am anion is larger than the neutral atom because an anion is formed by adding electron / electrons to neutral atom so due to electron repulsions and decrease in effective nuclear charge, the anions are larger than the atom
2) This statement is true because a cation is formed by removing one or more electrons so the effective nuclear charge on the remaining electrons increases resulting in a smaller size of the cation.
