they spend 3 x the cost of a drink

$16.85 - $12.50 = $4.35 for drinks

$4.35/3 = $1.45 per drink

Total cost - total pizza cost = total drink cost

D= T-P = 16.85 - 12.50 = 4.35

D/3 = 4.35/3 = $1.45 per drink
