Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
5x+2y = 12
2y =-5x +12
y = (-5/2)x + 6
the slope = -5/2 = also the slope of any parallel line
use the point slope formula to find that parallel line through (-2,4)
y-4 = (-5/2)(x+2)
multiply by 2
to eliminate the fraction, to get
2y-8 =-5x-10
5x+2y =-2 is the equation of the line that is parallel to 5x+2y=12 and passes through the point (-2,4)
