An airplane is loaded with cargo and ready to take off. Before it departs, an unknown number of 8 poind boxes, b, will be taken off the plane and a 600 pound crate will be put on. To keep the plane in balance, no more than 400 pounds may be taken off the plane. Write an inequality that best describes the situation.

X = the number of boxes of 8 pounds taken off the plane to keep it balanced, when 600 lbs is added

8X < 600

X < 600/8 = 75 boxes

but 8X is also less than or equal to 400

8X< 400

X < 400/8 = 50 boxes
