Increasing atomic number along a period means that you are going from left to right on the Periodic Table.
A. Ionization INcreases from left to right as Zeff increases as well.
B. The atomic radius INcreases as Zeff increases as well.
C. Density increases across a period as the volume decreases.
D. It DOES become more difficult to oxidize an atom because you have a high Zeff and the element does not want to lose any e-, so it will have a very high ionization energy,

Thanks so much but, what zeff means09/25/20

Paolo S.
Zeff is the effective nuclear charge. It is an expression to explain the pull that electrons "feel" from the nucleus. The bigger the nucleus (higher atomic number) the stronger the pull.09/25/20

Hi J.R., you’re absolutely right it decreases from left to right as a consequence of Zeff. Btw if anybody is interesting in this contact me, as the there are some peculiarities when you reach the 3rd period down and d-orbitals enter the discussion. Thanks for the catch!09/25/20

You in the first transition series the as the atomic number increases the atomic radius decreases until it reaches chromium where it becomes nearly constant . but the mass keeps increasing and as a result the destiny keeps increasing as it equals mass over volume but the ionization energy increases and it becomes more difficult to lose electrons as it requires more energy (i.e. difficult to be oxidized).02/06/22
