What are the odds?

In a group of 6 people, what are the odds that 3 of them have the same yearly birthday (month and year)?

Stanton D.

Yearly birthday is not month and year. What did you mean, really?

Sorry, I meant to say "month and day." (Specifically July 28.)

This isn't quite correct. We need to take into account the number of ways the 3 can be chosen from the 6 = 6C3 where C means combinations = 6! / 3! 3! = (6 x 5 x 4) / (3 x 2 x 1) = 20 So, the answer is 20 times the number given above (which is still very small!)

So, it would be 1/127,796,960,491,200 ??
