The nature of science is that we are always revising the things that we know. Cell theory is comprised of three main postulates: cells arise from pre-existing cells, all living things are made of cells, and cells are the basic unit of life. Previous to this discovery, we believed in the spontaneous generation theory which was that life could miraculously form from nothing. This demonstrates that as we gained new information, we were able to revise our ideas and theories about the world around us.
