Henery bought 280 red and blue paper cups. He used 1/3 of the blue cups and 1/2 of the red cus. If he had an equal number of blue and red cups left, how many cups did he use altogether?

Since Henry started with the same number of cups, he had 140 blue and 140 red cups.   He used 1/3 of the blue or 140÷3=46.67 (round up to 47).  If check used 1/2 of the red, he used 140÷2=70 cups.  Altogether he used 70+47=117 cups.
