Some of my students' essays have improved in all of those areas. I always emphasize the importance of articulation in writing, while editing and proofreading my students' essays to perfection for smooth-flowing, on-topic content and solid writing mechanics all the way through. Plus, I have them practice writing all the time using different strategies via carrying out: journal writing exercises, written reviews and accompanying star ratings (of books, products online, services, etc.), summaries of books, movies/television, and sports games, nonfiction writing in terms of writing about their own personal interests and means of outstanding knowledge, in turn informing their audiences of the underlying premises behind them all. When it comes to essay homework assignments for school, I emphasize the importance of carrying out and then properly citing thorough research in my students' essay writing to help them better understand how to design and defend their thesis statement(s) with logical reasoning and acute evidence/examples to follow. The same holds true for self-promotion when helping my older students concoct cover letters for jobs and personal statements for their college applications accordingly. The more convincing and literate the writer can be, the higher a likelihood that their intended readers will sit up and take notice of their worth based on what they see firsthand on paper!
In a nutshell: practice makes perfect! The more a person writes, the better their literacy will improve over time!
