If you were performing this lab, is it better to add a large volume of base to the receiving flask, or to add drops of base (one drop at a time)? Explain your response.

For a titration, probably the first practice in quantitative analytical chemistry, one tries to catch the equivalent point (practically the end point when with indicator, color change occurs), one has to control the quantity of the titrant base just enough to complete the neutralization. Adding a large volume of the titrant base is sort of "out of control"...
Drop by drop is the trick, though for time saving, one may estimate the target volume of the base by calculation or a trial titration, then add the base quickly to certain amount of base, just 4-5 mL before the target volume, e.g. if roughly 20 mL of titrant should be added to complete the titration, one may add 15-16 mL of the base very quickly, then slow down by adding the titrant drop by drop until a sharp color change occurs.
