Explanation of the formula for perimeter of the rectangle:-
Perimeter is the sum of all the sides, for rectangle as we have 2 lengths(opposite to each other) and

Now, substituting all the given values:
Perimeter=2(L+W)
48 = 2(x+1/3 x)
48 = 2(4/3 x)
48 = 8/3 x
x = 48 * 3/8
x = 6 * 3
x = 18.
Hence, the value of x is 18 in.
