I can't wait to share my love of learning with you
So the recipe calls for 36 muffins but Donna only wants to make 12.
36/12= 3, which means we have to cut the recipe in thirds
I'll shows you how to do this with the baking powder.
Originally it is 4 1/2 teaspoons. What I like to do is convert that into an improper fraction, to me they are easier to work with. To do this you multiple the whole number by the denominator and then add the numerator, this number is then placed over the denominator. Like this:
4* 2= 8 +1 = 9 --- therefore our new fraction is 9/2 which is the same as 4 1/2
When we are dividing fractions its easier to multiply by the reciprocal. So instead of dividing 9/2 by 3 my multiply it by 1/3.
9/2 * 1/3 = 9/6 --- when multiplying we can just multiply across
now reduce--- 9/6= 3/2 ( I just divided both numbers by 3)
now we need to turn this back into a mixed fraction-- 3/2 - 2/2(this is 1) = 1/2 (put the 1 we took out in front)
1 1/2 teaspoons of baking soda for 12 muffins.
You will just repeat the same steps for each ingredient.
Hope this helps!
